Firstly, it was important for us to get a good picture of what Aker BP wanted the opening event to communicate; what was the impression they wanted to leave? The name of the oil field, Ivar Aasen was a natural basis for the concept and gave us a clear direction. (Ivar Aasen (1813 – 86) promoted Norwegian identity by assembling from local dialects one of the two official written versions of the Norwegian language, etc.)
Creating content, planning and managing the opening event.
The themes “national inheritance” and “national identity”, through language and expressions, were used as the foundation for our work. All the content we created, and the chosen media and effects, reflected these themes. The mapping of the location and size of the oil field was also an important part of the inspiration.
On 13. February 2017, ”Ivar Aasen Oil Field” was officially opened by Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Søviknes.
